Information concerning the return to normal operation of the 225 kV interconnection line between Pragnères (France) and Biescas (Spain).

Source: RTE 20/02/2003

The 225 kV interconnection line between Pragnères (France) and Biescas (Spain) is scheduled to be put back into operation at the beginning of May 2003.

In the night of 30 to 31 January 2002, severe meteorological conditions seriously damaged some towers of the Pragnères-Biescas 225 kV interconnection line between France and Spain, near the Pragnères substation.

As the repairs have to be carried out under difficult access conditions and considering the information available thus far, it is planned to restore line operation in early May 2003.

During this period and despite this incident, RTE will make available an interconnection capacity between both countries that comes close to the usual levels, i.e. about 1,100 MW in the France-Spain direction.

An updated account of the effects of this incident in terms of capacity is available on our Web site (http://www.rte-france.com/htm/an/vie/presentation_espagne.htm, section "Annual NTC forecasts during the works periods" and sections "Capacity forecasts over monthly, weekly and daily periods").

The date on which the line will be put back into operation will also be indicated as soon as it is known.
