France - Spain
Interconnection capacities between France and Spain are allocated at the yearly, monthly daily and intra-daily timeframes, in both directions. Capacities are allocated through explicit auctions jointly coordinated by the two Transmission System Operators, the Spanish Red Electrica de Espana (REE) and RTE.
The allocation mechanism is described in the Capacity Allocation Rules for the France-Spain Interconnection (IFE Rules), elaborated by the two TSOs.
The capacities to be sold at each timeframe are calculated by REE and RTE, taking into account transmission system safety rules.
