France - England interconnection
The capacity of the France-United Kingdom interconnection (IFA) is allocated jointly by RTE and National Grid via an explicit auction mechanism. After having organised a call for tenders which resulted in a triennial allocation of 650 MW of capacity in the direction of France-England, the two TSOs organise auctions on an annual, seasonal, quarterly, monthly, weekend, daily and intraday basis (from 1st October 2009).
This capacity may be subject to reductions in real time depending on availability contingencies on the IFA cross-channel link.
