Electric generation in France

The French generators that make up the UFE - the French Electricity Association - have joined forces with RTE, to provide market players with aggregated data on each of the different generation technologies, via the RTE website.
So, every morning at 10.00, RTE displays :

  • ex post information concerning electricity generated in France (by nuclear, thermal, hydro-electric and other plants);
  • ex ante information concerning forecasts for the availability of generating capacities in the short, medium and long term.
  • weekly data on the water reserves used by French hydro-electric plants.

Participating generators

At the moment, the following producers participate in the initative are : EDF, GDF - SUEZ et SNET. So, the initiative covers more than 90% of French electricity production.


Origin of data published

The data published on actual realised generation are compiled from remote readings on the RTE network. All the other data are compiled by generators and aggregated by RTE for each type of generation technology, prior to publication.
