RTE confirms ISO 9001 and 14001 certification.

The monitoring audit conducted in March and May 2004 has confirmed RTE's ISO 9001 V2000 certification, and extended ISO 14001 certification to all bodies.

Since its creation, part of RTE's corporate development plan has been aimed at acquiring official certification. The first ISO 14001 environmental certification was obtained in December 2002 in two French pilot regions (WEST and SOUTH-WEST), whilst ISO 9001 v2000 certification was acquired for quality in June 2003.

Audits were carried out to ensure that RTE's activities continued to comply with ISO 9001 requirements, and to look at the possibility of awarding the company ISO 14001 certification. For a firm like RTE, this process stretched over seven weeks between March and May 2004, and in this case was completed successfully. The auditors noted the high level of commitment shown by all RTE's staff to the constant improvement approach, which has resulted in a number of concrete changes since the initial certification audits were carried out.

On 25 June, the AFAQ (France's leading certification body) confirmed ISO 9001 v2000 certification and extended the ISO 14001 certificate to all RTE's regional and national bodies. This success could not have been achieved without the total commitment of all concerned to a wide range of projects, culminating in new customer services and greater appreciation for environmental matters in RTE's various activities.
